Laser methods of treatment of eye diseases

highly effective, minimally invasive, painless and non-traumatic.

Laser surgery is one of the leading places in the treatment of a number of ophthalmic diseases. Applied high-tech equipment, modern techniques, as well as high accuracy of laser exposure allow to achieve the necessary treatment effect with maximum safety for the patient.
This is important. Laser treatment of the eye allows to avoid surgical intervention ONLY if it was carried out on time. Some pathologies require immediate treatment.

• no pre surgery preparation;
• the procedure is carried out on an outpatient basis
• fast execution of laser manipulations
• no blood and pain
• there is no cut of the eyeball — the laser beam is focused through the optical media of the eye;

• Peripheral dystrophy of the retina;
• Some cases of retinal vein thrombosis;
• Some cases with central serous chorioretinopathy;
• Retinal angiomatosis;
• local detachment of retina shell

• iris rumenosis (pathological proliferation of blood vessels);
• insufficient transparency of the refractive media of the eye;
• hemorrhagic activity of the fundus;
• opacity of the vitreous body of 3-4 degrees with a traction syndrome;
• visual acuity below 0.1 diopters;
• Large area of retinal detachment with a risk of maculopathy and detachment of the choroid.

• measurement of intraocular pressure;
• checking of visual acuity;
• examination of the fundus;
• ultrasonography;
• optical coherence tomography;
• if necessary and the if concomitant diseases are present, clinical analysis is collected

Laser operations are performed under local anesthesia by instillation of anesthetizing drops. The laser surgeon touches the eyeball with a special contact lens that allows accurately focusing laser beam in the area that requires treatment. During treatment patient is being seated behind the slit lamp. You’ll see series of bright splashes. Laser treatment is painless in most of cases, but sometimes you can feel ‘tingling’ during treatment. Treatment will take from 5 to 15 minutes.
Treatment does not require surgery: all procedures are performed without a scalpel, without incisions and, as a consequence, without scars and sutures.

To ensure that the treatment was successful and there will no complications in the future, in the postoperative period (within 2 weeks) the following recommendations should be adhered to:
• do not take a hot bath; exclude visiting of a sauna, a bath (the warm shower is supposed);
• limit physical activity (lifting of weight, occupations in the gym, long stay upside down);
• limit liquid consumption to 1.5 – 2 liters per day
• refuse hot and salt food, alcohol drinks, strong tea, coffee;
• avoid hypothermia and tobacco smoke;
• Follow the visual mode; (15 – minute rest after a half – hour visual load).
Sometimes patients who have undergone laser surgery to restore vision experience discomfort: burning, lacrimation, photophobia or foreign body sensation. These are normal after treatment of eye diseases that go through a few hours or days.
In case of pain, vision loss, redness of the eyes, you should contact the doctor immediately.

Patients with retinal pathology, as well as patients at risk (with myopia) should undergo an examination 1 to 2 times a year, since the likelihood of new retinal rupture exists throughout life. During pregnancy, it is necessary to observe at the ophthalmologist and to survey a retina (through a wide pupil) not less than two times – in the beginning and in the end of pregnancy. In the presence of thinning or rupture of the retina mandatory preventive laser coagulation of the retina. In addition, with this pathology, independent parturition could be contraindicated.
Women with retinal pathology should visit an ophthalmologist not later than 1-3 months after parturition.
In the ophthalmological center “VIZIOBUD +” laser treatment is aimed at:
• laser treatment of open-angle glaucoma;
• laser treatment of retinal vein thrombosis;
• laser treatment of diabetic retinopathy;
• laser treatment of peripheral degeneration of the retina of various forms;
• treatment of central retinal degeneration;
• laser treatment of retinal detachment;
• laser treatment of the pathology of the vessels of the fundus;
• laser treatment of opacification of the posterior capsule of the lens.
The laser’s technical characteristics and professionalism of our doctors guarantee high quality and maximum safety procedures for each patient.
REMEMBER! Only an experienced ophthalmologist can check the diagnosis with a special equipment.
