The American Academy of Ophthalmology – 2018, Chicago


The American Academy of Ophthalmology holds a congress every year that is attended by ophthalmologists from around the world. This year the event took place in Chicago and had more than 10,000 participants.
The rapid development of modern world technologies and new approaches in the treatment of diseases of the organ of vision requires the constant improvement of their knowledge and practical skills.

The congress was attended by the ophthalmologist of our clinic, candidate of medical sciences, Chichur Diana Andreevna, vitreoretinal surgeon, specialist in diseases of the retina and vitreous body

Issues of modern surgical treatment of the vitreoretinal interface pathology, complications of vitreoretinal surgery with the demonstration of clinical cases were actively discussed.
There was a discussion on the indications for vitrectomy for uveitis of various origins. The first results of recent clinical researches in the treatment of such a common disease as age-related macular dystrophy, particularly of neovascular form and geographical atrophy, were presented, and the effectiveness of gene therapy was demonstrated.

As part of the congress, an ophthalmological exhibition was held, where the latest equipment was presented.
